NATIONAL – After more than a decade of persistent fighting, the Teaching Supplies Allowance (TSA) has been officially raised to P10,000 following the enactment of the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act,” a legislative triumph led by the ACT Teachers Partylist.
This journey began in 2011 when ACT Teachers Partylist President and Former Representative Antonio Tinio first filed the proposal in Congress. Back then, the teaching supplies allowance, or chalk allowance, stood at a meager P700. Over the years, the ACT Teachers Partylist relentlessly advocated for its increase, culminating in the passage of their bill to raise it to P10,000.
According to the ACT Teachers Partylist, with the signing of the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act,” teachers across the country can look forward to better support and resources for their classrooms, enhancing their ability to deliver quality education to their students.
“This is a testament to the power of collective action and perseverance,” said the ACT Teachers Partylist. They added that the fight continues as they remain committed to pursuing other legislative measures that will further benefit teachers and advance the welfare of the education sector.
As per a document shared by the ACT Teachers Party-List, Malacañang has extended an invitation to Rep. France Castro for the ceremonial reenactment of the signing into law, scheduled for Monday, June 3./PT
